Data Contract error in WCF mode

Hello everyone,

I'm getting some strange error in Visual Studio when I'm trying to create data contracts (only in WCF mode - in ASMX mode everything is OK). I'm doing lesson 2 of hands-on-lab and when I try to insert some data in the "type" column I receive "Something bad happened in the gridview binding". It seems that Visual Studio don't know the types of variables it will search for...

Did I miss something?

Tks,

Leo

PS: Excellent job, I'm very interested... ;)

Try reopening VS. That error is being thrown by VS in some scenarios.
Let me know if that solves the problem, otherwise let me know about the rest of the data that you set on the wizard pages of that recipe.

Thanks,
Charly

Hello Charly,

I tried to reopen VS and it still doesn't work...
I made a scenario to show you what is happening...

1. I open VS and choose "Web Service Software Factory (WCF)"
2. I leave (example) the default name "WCFService" in my project name
3. I leave (example) the default name to my projects prefix "WCFService"
4. Everything goes fine (creation of my solution).. and I will create my data contracts
5. I go to "Data Contracts -> Service Factory -> Create Data Contract"
6. I choose "Client" to my data contract class name and the same (default) to the data contract name (and I don't change my XML namespace...)
7. For the data members I write "ClientName" as a name
8. If I click with the mouse in the type column I receive the "Something bad..." error
8.1 If I try to write something I receive the same error
9. After the error I do can write something in this column and I try "System.String"
9.1 The same error pops up and the red marc is placed in the type column
9.2 I try to click the "..." button and the screen (Data Contract) disappear..

Thats's it...
I hope we find something, and I hope the informations are clear...

Tks,

Leo
